BECOME A MEMBER OF NEBRASKA GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY
Applications for membership in NGS should be completed and submitted to the Secretary. The application requires the signatures of three active members who are in good standing with the organization. Annual dues for professional members are $20.00. Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to join. Student verification is required from a supervising professor and student dues are $5.00.

Quarterly Meetings:
NGS regularly sponsors two types of scholarships and awards each year:
- Offer unique research presentations and learning experiences
- Offer access to active professional and student members with a wide range of geological experience including academia, licensed professional geologists, and practicing professionals.
- Continuing Education Credits (CECs) - You will be able to sit in on lectures and training courses to receive CECs. This includes licenses for professional geologist, well contractors, pump installers, etc.
- Socializing, food, and of course, BEER! (Professionals will pay for your meal if you are a student!)
- Experience Nebraska geology hands on.
- Trips are led by experienced geologists who are experts in their field of study.

NGS regularly sponsors two types of scholarships and awards each year:
- The Yatkola-Edwards Grants are awarded to graduate and undergraduate students conducting research on the geology of Nebraska. The namesake of this award is to honor the memory of students Dan Yatkola and Paul Edwards, who died in an accident in 1976 while pursuing their graduate studies in geology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- Award for best student paper in geology at the Nebraska Academy of Science annual meeting held in April.
